Camera link
OPTIONALWith a Bluetooth link to the camera, GimbalPilot zooms with variable speed and can frame the target automatically. Works with Sony bodies that support a Bluetooth remote (verified on the ZV-E10 II; the other bodies Sony lists are shown after you link, unverified by us) and the Blackmagic Pocket 4K/6K family (from Blackmagic's documented protocol, not yet verified on hardware). Zoom needs a power-zoom lens on either. Sony on Windows: pair the camera in Settings first (steps under First-time pairing); Blackmagic asks for its 6-digit code when you link. Without a camera link, tracking still works — zoom stays manual via the gimbal.
First-time pairing
Sony — on the camera: MENU → Network → Bluetooth → Bluetooth Function On, Bluetooth Rmt Ctrl On, then Pairing (next to Bluetooth Rmt Ctrl). Leave the camera on the “Perform pairing from the device to be connected” screen — it only accepts a pairing while that screen is showing.
Sony on Windows: Open Windows Bluetooth settings (Chrome asks once) → Add device → Bluetooth → the camera's model code (e.g. ZV-E10M2). When the camera asks, press OK on the camera within ten seconds. If Windows says “Try connecting the device again”, the camera was not on its Pairing screen — open it and retry. If the camera is already listed in Settings, remove it first, and if the camera lists this PC under Bluetooth → Manage Paired Device, delete that too. If Windows fails instantly every time, its pairing service is stuck: restart the PC and start over. Then switch the camera off and on, wait for the Bluetooth icon on its screen, do not reopen MENU, and press Link camera.
Sony on macOS: press Link camera with the camera on its Pairing screen, accept the macOS prompt, confirm on the camera, restart the camera, link again.
The Sony camera must not be held by a phone — close the Creators' / Imaging Edge app. If the lens doesn't respond, close the camera's menu (half-press the shutter). On bodies with the setting, put Remote Zoom Speed → Speed Type on Variable.
Blackmagic Pocket 4K/6K (from Blackmagic's documented protocol, not yet verified on hardware) — on the camera: Setup → Bluetooth On. Press Link camera, pick the camera, and when Chrome (or macOS) asks for a code, type the 6 digits shown on the camera screen. No restart needed. The camera talks to one controller at a time, so disconnect the Blackmagic app on any phone first; the lens moves only if it is a power-zoom lens.
Canon/Nikon/Fujifilm: not supported — skip; tracking works without zoom.
Pair the camera with this computer
The camera accepted the connection but rejects zoom commands: it only listens to a remote it is paired with, and that pairing happens in the operating system, not in the browser. GimbalPilot has released its Bluetooth link so the pairing can go through.
The camera accepted the connection but the pairing did not complete: a Blackmagic camera asks for a 6-digit code, and the dialog was dismissed, the code was wrong, or the camera has forgotten this computer. GimbalPilot has released its Bluetooth link so the next attempt starts clean. (Blackmagic support is from Blackmagic's documented protocol, not yet verified on hardware.)
- On the camera: Setup → Bluetooth On. If this computer is listed there from an earlier try, use Clear Paired Devices. Disconnect the Blackmagic app on any phone — the camera talks to one controller at a time.

Already paired and still here? Leave the camera's menu (half-press the shutter) — a camera sitting in MENU silently drops commands. And make sure no phone app (Creators' / Imaging Edge) holds the camera.
No code dialog appeared? On Windows, Chrome shows its own code prompt; on macOS the system does. If nothing shows, the camera may still hold an old pairing — Clear Paired Devices on the camera, then Retry link.
Switch the camera off and on
The pairing exists, but the camera ignores commands until it has restarted. Switch it off, wait five seconds, switch it on, leave the menu (half-press the shutter). GimbalPilot reconnects by itself; Retry link works too.
Waiting for the camera to report ready
The pairing went through and the camera accepted a command, but it has not reported itself ready yet. GimbalPilot keeps checking by itself. If it stays here for more than a minute, use Disconnect Current Device or Clear Paired Devices in the camera's Bluetooth setup and press Retry link. (Blackmagic support is from Blackmagic's documented protocol, not yet verified on hardware.)
